Sign Bruce Elder’s petition to raise the minimum wage

Democrat Bruce Elder, who will run against Bob Goodlatte for the Sixth District seat in Congress this year, is asking folks to sign a petition urging Goodlatte to support an increase in the federal minimum wage to at least $10.10 an hour. Bruce plans to deliver the petition to Goodlatte personally.

Creigh Deeds on “60 Minutes”

State Senator Creigh Deeds appeared Sunday night on “60 Minutes” discussing the tragedy involving his son Gus and the need for improved services for the mentally ill.

Donna Brazile speech rescheduled for January 26

Donna Brazile’s appearance at Washington and Lee, which was postponed due to the weather, has been rescheduled for Sunday January 26 at 5:30 p.m. at Lee Chapel.

The event is free and open to the public.

Donna Brazile will speak at W&L

Democratic party strategist and TV commentator Donna Brazile, who managed Al Gore’s campaign for president in 2000, will speak at Lee Chapel on the Washington and Lee campus at 7 p.m. on Tuesday January 21.

It will be the keynote speech of W&L’s observance of Martin Luther King’s birthday.
