Help contact Lexington voters on photo ID requirement

A new state law requires all voters in Virginia to show a photo ID when they vote on November 4.

We have obtained a list of people who are registered to vote in Lexington but who may not have photo IDs from the Department of Motor Vehicles (although they may have acceptable photo IDs from other sources). For some we have phone numbers, for others only addresses.

For the next three Saturdays (October 11, 18 and 25), we need volunteers to contact these voters either by phone or by addressing pre-printed postcards, to inform them of the new law and if necessary to direct them to the Registrar’s Office, where they can obtain free photo IDs.

We will be working at Democratic Headquarters, 111 West Nelson Street, from 9 a.m. to noon each Saturday. If you are willing to make phone calls, please bring a cell phone.

If you can help in this important outreach, please contact Gene Zitver at gzitver@aol.com.
