Notice of 24th House of Delegates District Democratic Caucus

The Counties of Bath and Rockbridge, the Cities of Lexington and Buena Vista and those precincts of Amherst and Augusta Counties that lie within the 24th District will hold an assembled caucus beginning at noon, Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the Howard Johnson Inn, 2836 N. Lee Hwy., Lexington, to nominate a Democratic candidate for the 24th District Virginia House of Delegates. Any person wishing to seek nomination must pre-file with Gene Zitver, Chair of the 24th District Nominating Committee, (202) 372-7303 (email: gzitver@aol.com) no later than 5 p.m. on May 18, 2015.

There is no charge for those wishing to attend and vote at the caucus. Anyone pre-filing must pay a $50 non-refundable filing fee, with Mr. Gene Zitver.

Doors to the caucus will open at 11:00 a.m. for check-in. Any person attending the caucus, before participating in that caucus, shall sign a Caucus Participation Form stating that he or she is a Democrat, does not intend to support any candidate who is opposed to a Democratic nominee in the ensuing election, believes in the principles of the Democratic Party, and is a registered voter in the District. Caucus Participation Forms must be filled out at the caucus prior to participating in the caucus.

Ellen Arthur campaign update

There was a fine turnout at Hopkins Green Park in Lexington on April 2 for the kickoff of Ellen Arthur’s campaign to replace Ben Cline in the Virginia House of Delegates for the 24th District. (Earlier in the day she spoke at kickoff events in Amherst and Augusta Counties.)

Although Ellen’s campaign website isn’t officially up yet, she has a Facebook page.

Be sure to “like” it.

At this stage of the campaign, the highest priority is fundraising. We’ll need funds to hire a professional campaign manager, rent a headquarters, produce bumper stickers, buttons and yard signs, etc. Remember that Ben Cline never has any problem raising lots of money from his corporate and wealthy right-wing friends. And once they find out he has a serious opponent, he’ll be getting even more. Please help by sending a check payable to “Ellen Arthur for House of Delegates” to:
