Notice of Lexington Democratic Committee reorganization caucus and election of officers

The Lexington Democratic Committee will hold an unassembled caucus beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday December 19, 2015, on the second floor of the Virginia Horse Center, 487 Maury River Road, for the purpose of electing members to the Lexington Democratic Committee, and the election of officers for the 2016 and 2017 calendar years.

Before the caucus, a light breakfast will be served jointly with the Rockbridge County Democratic Committee from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. If you want to join us for breakfast, please RSVP to Gene Zitver at gzitver@aol.com by Monday December 14.

All of the incumbent officers have agreed to stand for reelection. They are:

–Gene Zitver, chair

–Pat Mayerchak, vice-chair

–Tracey Mason, treasurer

–Dorothy Blackwell, secretary

Any person wishing to seek election as an officer to the committee must file with Gene Zitver, chair of the Lexington Democratic Committee at 540-319-1649, no later than 5 p.m., Monday, December 14, 2015.

Any person attending the caucus, before participating in that caucus, shall sign a standardized Caucus Participation Form stating that he or she is a Democrat, does not intend to support any candidate who is opposed to a Democratic nominee in the ensuing general election, believes in the principles of the Democratic Party, and is a registered voter in Lexington. Caucus Participation Forms must be filled out at the caucus prior to participating in the caucus.

There is no charge for participating in the caucus, however only members who join the committee will be allowed to participate in the voting for officers. The cost of membership is $15, payable in cash or by check to the Lexington Democratic Committee. The membership fee will be waived in case of hardship.
