Lexington Democratic Committee meets February 22

The City of Lexington Democratic Committee will have its first meeting of 2016 on Monday February 22 at 5:15 p.m. in the meeting room at City Hall, 300 E. Washington Street.

If you didn’t rejoin and pay your annual dues ($15) at our December 19 reorganization meeting, this will be your opportunity to do so.

(After the February meeting, we plan to meet on the third Monday of every other month– April, June, August, October– until the November election. I will keep you informed of the details.)

We will discuss plans to have a table (weather permitting) outside the Lexington polls for the presidential primary on Tuesday March 1 to recruit new members, regardless of which Democratic candidates they support. If you would be willing to devote an hour or two for this effort, please let me know.

Lexington Democrats have been allotted two delegates to the Sixth District and State Democratic conventions, which will select delegates to the Democratic National Convention next July. Any committee member is eligible to run for delegate. If necessary, we will hold a caucus in April to make our selections. More information to come. Contact me if you have any questions.

We are discussing with other local Democratic committees plans for fundraisers later this year, and a PAC to raise money for a future Democratic candidate for the 24th District House of Delegates seat. Again, watch for more information.

Thanks, and let’s go all out for a Democratic victory in 2016.
