Voter registration and house party coming up

Our recently-arrived Democratic party campaign organizer Tyler Mitchell has hit the ground running. He has arranged to register new voters outside the Lexington Kroger at 2 p.m. on Thursday June 2 and to meet potential 2016 campaign volunteers at a house party hosted by Beatrice Johnson (205 Massie Street in Lexington) at 5 p.m. the same day.

If you can help with the voter registration and/or attend the house party, please contact Tyler at tmitchell@vavictory2016.org or by phone at 864-621-9371.

Tom Howarth of Warren County, who plans to run as a Democrat against Congressman Goodlatte this year, will be on hand to meet area Democrats.

The entry fee is $20, with kids under 12 free. There will be a cash bar for wine, with light snacks and soft drinks provided.

Folks are encouraged to wear blue to show their Democratic pride.

Your RSVP will help gauge the snacks we will need. RSVP to Jay Clarke at jclarke@ju.edu. You may pay at the event or send your check (payable to RCDC) to Jay Clarke at 80 Meadow Heights Lane, Lexington, VA 24450. Please include your name, address, phone number, and email address.

Proceeds will be divided equally between the Lexington and Rockbridge County Democratic Committees.

Now that the possibility of Donald Trump being the Republican candidate for president has become a frightening reality, we need to do all in our power to achieve an overwhelming Democratic victory this year. This event will be a great kickoff to our efforts locally.

Looking forward to seeing you June 4 at Rockbridge Vineyard.
