Dorothy McAuliffe meets Democrats in Lexington

Published September 25, 2013 News for Lexington Democrats Leave a CommentBruce Elder, a Democrat and Staunton city councilman who will challenge Congressman Bob Goodlatte in the 2014 election, writes:
I can’t write this email without first saying “Thank you” to all of you who have supported and encouraged my family this past summer as we dealt with the passing of my father. The affection and sympathy you have given me will remain a treasured memory for many years.
As the weeks have passed I’ve slowly returned to the campaign. I spent Labor Day weekend with wonderful Democrats in Harrisonburg and Buena Vista, where I marched alongside Terry McAuliffe, Ralph Northam, and Mark Herring. This Friday I’ll be campaigning with Dorothy McAuliffe in Staunton and meeting new friends at the Democratic Party of Virginia’s Central Committee meeting in Harrisonburg.
Now it’s time to replenish our campaign account and start saving for a campaign office. We also need to stretch our fundraising muscles and get them ready for next year.
We have a modest but meaningful goal: raise $2014 online in September.
The goals will get bigger as our strength increases. As the old saying goes, you eat an elephant one bite at a time. We’re not going to defeat a 20+ year incumbent with one fundraising email a year before the election. But we can surpass incremental goals and prove we have what it takes to raise the money we need to win this race.
Help us reach our goal of raising $2014 this month. Contribute today!
Thank you,Bruce
P.S. Making a recurring contribution would be even more helpful. Committing to $10, $15, or $20 a month for the next 12 months will help tremendously. Contribute now!
